Tuina Chinese massage

Tuina Chinese massage

Tuina is an oriental body therapy that has been used in China for 2000 years. Tuina uses the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of Qi through the meridians in its basic therapeutic orientation.
Through the application of massage and manipulation techniques Tuina seeks to establish a more harmonious flow of Qi through the system of channels and collaterals, allowing the body to heal itself naturally.

In the year 600, Tuina was introduced in the Imperial Medical College as a separate department. Tuina flourished throughout China until the Qing Dynasty where it was suppressed with other Chinese cultural arts. After the Communist revolution, Tuina was reconstituted with other traditional medical arts and was included in the creation of the current system of Universities of Traditional Medicine.

Currently, Tuina is taught as a separate field of study but equal to others in the major traditional Chinese medical universities. Tuina doctors receive the same demanding training as acupuncturists and herbalists and enjoy the same level of professional respect.

The main schools in China include the school of "rolling" method that focuses on tissue techniques and specializes in joint and muscle problems, the school of method "one finger pushing" that focuses on acupressure techniques and treatment of internal diseases, the school of method "Nei Gung" which focuses on the use of energy-generating exercises Qi Gong Nei and specific methods massage for revitalizing depleted energy systems, and the school of method "bone setting" which emphasizes manipulation methods to realign the relationship muscle, skeleton, ligament and specializes in joint problems and nerve pain.

In a typical session, the client, loose clothing and no shoes, lies on a table or mat. The dentist examines his problems and began to apply a specific treatment protocol. The main application centers are pain sites, acupressure points, energy meridians, muscles and joints. The advanced practitioners of Tuina can also use Chinese herbs for a faster recovery. Sessions last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Depending on their specific problems, customers can return for additional treatments. The client usually feels relaxed but regenerated by the treatment.
